Because of this, GRAFTON is committed to classrooms with fewer than 10 students, an average of 8, behavior support from Behavior Analysts or Therapists, and support from Case Managers who manage the entire IEP process! This means that the teachers actually have time to teach and aren't bogged down with paperwork!GRAFTON does serve some of the most challenging students in the tri-state area. In the Winchester program, the students have complex developmental delays, including autism, paired with significant behavioral issues. Some students are non-verbal and use augmentative/alternative methods of communication. All students have an Individual Plan of Care, which the teacher provides input. We believe in comfort versus control, so when our students are entering a crisis state, the teachers help to meet the student's needs while simultaneously keeping them safe. The academic programming focuses on functional skills that can be carried over to a variety of environments and will be meaningful to the student. There is an emphasis on improving activities of daily living and community integration.GRAFTON is a dynamic organization and our Winchester program is no exception.
